Credit Recovery:

Credit Recovery allows a student to get back on track to high school graduation. For many students, the need to catch up to grade level can be overwhelming. Our program is designed to help students focus on exactly the content they need in order to meet graduation requirements. When a student enrolls at Drive One Career Tech High School, their transcript will be reviewed with the student, the parent, and the teacher. If the student needs to make-up classes, those classes will become part of the Education Development Plan for the student. The flexibility and design of these courses allows the student to complete required coursework and be on track to graduation. All course content is aligned to
state standards for credit attainment.

Special Education Program:

The goal of special education is to help each student become a functional, adaptable, flexible learner who can live as a productive member of society. We hope that by providing special education services, the student will be able to return to general education and be prepared for life after graduation.
The IEP will determine the least restrictive environment for the student. The goals will be identified to meet the student’s individual needs. Every service provider: resource room teacher, school social worker, speech therapist, occupational therapist, etc. will keep a log of all contact with the student, date, specific goals, lesson plan, and evaluation for each contact with the student. Progress reports will be sent home and an annual review
will be conducted every year. Every three years the student will be re-evaluated to determine if the student is still eligible for special education services or if changes need to be made to ensure the student has a successful educational experience.
All service providers for the student will document their services on a service log to make sure that they are meeting the requirements of the IEP. They also record parent contacts and conversations. We believe that our students receive the best education possible when all the service providers in special education and general education work together to meet the needs of the students.

Child Find:

Child Find is the process of identifying, locating and evaluating all children from age three to twenty-one who may have a disability and need special education and related services, regardless of the severity of the disability. The district seeks to identify, through child find, all children attending
Drive One Career Technical High School who are enrolled at the school, including those who are homeless, wards of the state, or who may be in need of special education and related services. A child with a disability is a child having a cognitive disability (e.g. mental impairment), hearing impairment (including deafness), visual impairment (including blindness), a speech or language impairment, a serious emotional disturbance, an orthopedic impairment, autism, traumatic brain injury, other health impairment, specific learning disability, deaf-blindness, or multiple disabilities.
Parents, relatives, public and private agency employees, and concerned citizens are asked to help the school find any child who may have a disability or special needs that Drive One Career Technical High School is unaware of regarding any student.

Work Study:

The Work Study/Internship Program provides students an opportunity to meet their academic requirements for graduation while gaining valuable work and internship experience. Students are placed with our partner businesses and paid during their hours of work. Through this experience, students will build the knowledge, skills, and self-confidence to be successful in higher education or in the workplace.

Educational Development Plan:

When a student enrolls at Drive One Career Tech High School, their transcript will be reviewed with the student, the parent, and the teacher. Together, they will make an individualized Education Plan. This plan will guide the student to mastering state standards and receiving the credit required for graduation. They will also discuss what Career Technology classes the student wants to explore or master as part of the curriculum. With the classroom teachers, each student will work on core content requirements for each subject. The curriculum can also be accessed from home. This
allows for continuity of instruction and flexibility in the student’s schedule.
